Born in London and raised in Florence,Italy. Isabella's work blends instinctive mark-making with a thoughtful approach to storytelling. Working on paper, she creates imagery that explores complex and often unusual subjects through a lens of subtle humor.
Cotier is particularly interested in visual language that can open up conversations around difficult or overlooked topics. Her style is impulsive, intuitive, and grounded in a deep curiosity about the world and human behaviour.
Her illustrations have appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Wallpaper Magazine, and Bloomberg, where she is a regular contributor. In 2024, one of her pieces was recognised by The New York Times as one of the best images of the year.
Cotier has collaborated with clients including Gucci, Smythson, Max&Co, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Liberty, and her work has extended into film—most notably, she illustrated the opening credits for the Oscar-winning film American Fiction.
She is now based in Dalston, London.
